Membership

Club membership provides you with access to club training, events and communications.  We are a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers – your membership and session fees pay for venues, coaches and shared equipment, and the costs of meeting our legal and affiliation obligations.

All club members must be registered with Fencing Victoria.

Club membership for the current calendar year is purchased with a single joining fee at any time of the year. Session fees then apply on a term basis.
If you are not paying session fees, you are classified as a social member, and will need to pay visitor fees if you wish to fence.

If you are a visitor from another club, you are welcome to join us by paying a visitor fee. However if you fence with us regularly (more than 5 times a year), we will ask you to join as a member to contribute to the club’s overhead costs.

You can change your membership category at any time by contacting the club treasurer: treasurer@whitehorsechevaliers.org.au.

Fencing Equipment

Because we need to ensure good hygiene and quality equipment for our growing club, we have had to update our equipment policy.

Beginners equipment will be provided, and cleaned between sessions.

Novice fencers and members experiencing financial difficulties will be able to hire a set of club kit for a small fee each term. Availability is limited.

All other fencers should seek to purchase their own equipment. Specifically; mask, jacket, and glove, to be followed by electric equipment when you start to compete.
The club will try to facilitate sale and purchase of new and second hand equipment.

New Members – Paying Your Membership

This is a 3-stage process.

First you need to fill out your information online and pay $45 to Fencing Victoria for your affiliation:

The link to register is here:  Fencing Victoria Club Portal
Use the “Sign Up” link to create a new account.

Second, you need to pay for club membership ($90) and send an e-mail to the club treasurer to confirm. Advise which classes you will be attending, and ask for an invoice.
The club Treasurer’s e-mail is: treasurer@whitehorsechevaliers.org.au

You can pay by direct deposit to the cub bank account.
Finally, you will need to pay your class fees. Costs are below.

Members – Renewing Your Membership

Membership needs to be renewed in January each year.

Watch your e-mail in Dec/Jan for a notice that will give you full instructions (the process sometimes changes).  You will need to affiliate with Fencing Victoria for the new year.

We generally offer a loyalty discount to returning members. To take advantage of this, you must affiliate and renew your membership no later than January 30th.

Session Fees

Single Session:
Access to a single nominated training session. Access to “make-up” sessions during the term if you miss your nominated session. Access extra sessions with payment of visitor fee.

Some sessions run at discounted rates, check specific session pages for more  information.

Multi Session:
Access to all age-appropriate fencing classes, sessions and activities offered by the club.

Social:
If you pay the membership fee but don’t pay class fees you will default to “social membership”. This is useful if you need to take time off until you are ready to resume regular fencing. Also suitable for volunteers and supporters who require affiliation but do not normally fence.
If you still want to stay in touch during a break, you can join a fencing session by paying the session visitor fee.

Families
Family discounts are available for multiple fencers living at the same address.  Please contact the treasurer for more information.

Visitors
Visitors are welcome at all club sessions, however fencers must be affiliated with their state or national fencing association.  There is a visitor fee of $25 per session, which includes participation in any suitable group class.

Visitor fees can be paid by direct deposit or online at the session. Please bring correct change if paying cash, we do not keep cash at training sessions.
